** Joint staff meeting WCC-Vatican to strengthen the Interreligious dialogue in the world
14 January 2019
The annual meeting with the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue (PCID) and the World Council of Churches was held in Rome from 10-11 January. Staff of both the PCID and the Office of Interreligious Dialogue and Cooperation of the World Council of Churches participated.
They exchanged news and views on various activities undertaken in the last year and mutually shared planned programs.
An important aspect of the meeting was an update on the document titled “Education for Peace in a Multi-Religious World,” the latest joint project between the two offices. Participants also brainstormed and mapped out a plan for a future joint project.
The offices have been in collaborative engagement since 1977, and have completed some common interreligious projects, including “Interreligious Prayer” (1994); “Reflection on Interreligious Marriage” (1997); and “Christian Witness in a Multi-Religious World: Recommendations for Conduct” (2011).
Expressing happiness over the increasing mutual collaboration between the two offices over the years, both delegations reiterated their desire to continue their common engagement, ecumenically, in the service of interreligious dialogue.
