Consortium of Universities for Global health opposes Trump,s WHO withdrawal .

July 7th, 2020

Dear Colleagues,

Today, President Donald Trump notified Congress that he had indeed sent formal notification to the UN to withdraw the US from the WHO. Many of us have signed this letter to Congress.

This is an irresponsible and dangerous action at any time but particularly so in the midst of a pandemic. We need to make our voices heard loud and clear in opposition to this decision.

Will you please:

  • Use this letter and add your own commentary on letters to the editor, OpEds, social media, blogs, calling radio and TV talk shows etc. If you have an organizational social media presence we would love to see it pushed out far and wide--and if you have connections to others with wide reach please engage them.

  • Please also contact your congressional representatives' offices voicing your opposition to this action and call for a reinstatement of US funds and that the US remain within the WHO.

Thank you very much for your urgent attention to this important challenge to the health and security of everyone.

Best wishes,
