Indigenous Peoples day celebrated in Houston , with cultural displays , including singing and dance

City of Houston mayor Sylvester, Turner joined councilman Gallegos to present a proclamation to members of the American Indian, indigenous community, displaying their culture in front of City Hall on the second Monday of October 2020, marking Indigenous day, that many say have replaced Columbus day.
California and the state of Tennessee celebrate the day in September. It is now accepted as a day to celebrate the heritage of Native American Indians.
The contributions of Native Americans before and in the present is emphasized during these celebrations.
