Houston Fire Department lost the first arson investigator ever killed in a shooting encounter.
44 years old Lemuel Bruce was declared dead on Friday 16th of October 2020 at the Texas medical center where he was treated for gun shut wounds and related health outcomes following a shooting encounter with a deceased in the Northwest parts of Houston.
Officer Lemuel Bruce ,a married father of two was investigating a series of recent arson incidents in Houston.
The person who shut officer Lemuel was also shut and killed.
Fire chief Samuel Pena says the arson officer was with the department for 17 years.
The chief is asking the city to lift up Lemuel , his family, and his professional firefighter family to God in prayers as they are all hurting.
Mayor Sylvester Turner of Houston has sent a condolence message to the Family and the Houston fire department, assuring them of complete solidarity.
The family has put out the following message to the public, ". We are grateful for the outpouring of love and support from the HPD family, the Houston professional firefighter association, and the public. We are mourning the tragic untimely passing of our husband, father, son, firefighter and fire investigator, former Marine crew chief and friend . As we begin to reflect on his life and what he meant to all of us, please note, he was forever dedicated to his family and his profession. We appreciate your respect for our privacy for now. Thanks again for your support".
The Houston police department is investigating his death as part of a normal routine when an officer of his type and classification dies while on duty.
