Covid19 surges ,motivates the possibility of new mask guidelines in the USA .
The head of the national institute of allergy and infectious diseases and chief medical adviser of USA president , Dr Anthony Fauci said, the USA is likely to change the masks wearing guidelines in the face of recent surges in Covid19 diagnoses, hospitalization and deaths driven by vaccination hesitancy , delta and other variants and increased social and physical mixing .
Doctors and health care delivery providers in different parts of the USA national health system are seeing more Covid19 patients than the cases a few weeks ago . Most of the cases of hospitalizations and deaths are unvaccinated, mostly in the Southern states ,where anti vaccination misinformation is predominant.
Dr A. Fauci recently spoke in the USA Senate, and told senator Paul Rand that he was a liar and did not know what he was talking about Covid19. If a physician senator could be accused of ignorance related to Covid19, then we can get an understanding of the extend to which misinformation drives some of the problems with the recent surges .
Americans are called upon to get vaccinated , and use the masks according to the CDC guidelines.
With only about 50% of USA population vaccinated, the nation is not yet out of the woods .
